Where we study and practice the true essence of Budo (the martial way). SeiZan Dojo was founded by chief instructor Luis Santos Jr. with the purpose of disseminating the spirit and beliefs of Tenshin Bugei Gakuen Dojo. Santos Sensei is devoted to teaching the real fighting techniques in Aikido and not just the movement. In turn SeiZan Dojo (a.k.a Sunstate Aikido Dojo) was the first school to be recognized by Tenshin Dojo's head instructor Haruo Matsuoka Sensei, apart from Take Shigemichi Sensei's Dojo in Los Angeles, California. Aikido is a powerful method of self defense that can be studied by people of all ages. It consists of joint locks, throws, and controlling techniques that use the power of the attacker against them. At SeiZan Dojo we teach Tenshin Aikido, Ryu Sei Ken Kenjutsu and Eishin Ryu Iaido. We have classes for adults and teens. Our classes involve empty hand techniques and the use of weapons such as the jo (short staff) and the bokken (wooden sword). Aikido is not a religion; however, it is education and refinement of the spirit. In Japan there is a saying there should be a balance in the development of both the spiritual and the physical self.
